Health Visitors

The team are able to offer advice and support on all aspects of child health and development. The team also offer advice and support on:

  • Child Behaviour Management
  • Sleep
  • Immunisations and other Public Health Issues
  • Support through teaching Baby Massage and Weaning

They visit all new mums after discharge from the midwife and can also help with support and advice ante-natally (first time mums) and with post-natal depression.

They review your child’s health and development periodically either through individual contact or questionnaires and refer to other agencies (eg. speech therapy) as appropriate. A Duty Health Visitor is available Monday to Friday 0900 to 1700 on 02382 313091

 

Development Checks

  • 6 – 8 weeks with GP – parent to make appointment
  • 7 – 9 months with Health Visitor – HV will arrange appointment
  • 22 – 24 months parental questionnaire – sent by HV & parent to return
  • 3 – 3 ½ years parental questionnaire – sent by HV & parent to return

 

Immunisations

Your Health Visitor will advise you on immunisations before the first ones are due. All appointments are automatically sent to you from the Child Health Department.
